According to reports, in a crackdown by the Kerala Police, the license of a
Thrissur resident was cancelled and he was fined a hefty Rs 2.5 lakh for
blocking the path of an ambulance. The incident took place on November 7 in
Chalakudy area, where the driver allegedly did not give way to an ambulance on
the way to Thrissur Medical College, although some reports suggest that the
ambulance was coming from Ponnani.
The entire incident was caught on camera
In this case, the ambulance's dashcam footage shows the ambulance following a
silver-coloured car on a narrow, two-lane road for over two minutes. During
this, the ambulance driver repeatedly honked his horn and sounded his siren,
but the car driver did not let him pass. After this video surfaced, the Kerala
Police took immediate action and took action against the car driver.
The video went viral on social media
This action of the police is being highly appreciated on social media. The
video of this incident was widely shared on social media platform X. This
video is being widely discussed, with social media users praising the quick
response of the police and strongly criticizing such behavior of the car
driver.
It is noteworthy that under Section 194E of the Motor Vehicles Act, failure to
give way to an ambulance or emergency vehicle with a siren or hooter can
result in a fine of Rs 10,000 and six months in jail.
