The England Domestic League T20 Blast Series is running alongside the T20
World Cup. Currently, group stage matches are going on in this league. A match
was played between Yorkshire and Lancashire on Thursday 20 June. A surprising
incident happened during the first innings of this match.
Yorkshire batsman Shan Masood's first hit wicket fell, after which the
Lancashire players were run out, but the umpire declared it not out. This was
a no ball and should have been run out. However, the umpire gave the note out,
due to which the controversy has now started.
Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, the team
scored 173 runs in which Shan Masood played an important innings of 61 runs
off 41 balls. Joe Root also scored 43 off 33 balls and shared a 104-run

Standing on a non-strike, Joe Root completed the run by running for a run.
Here Masood stood outside the crease, when he tried to finish the run the
bowler ran him out. However, the umpire did not give him out. After the
controversy, the league mentioned a rule behind it on social media.
According to Law 31.7, the batsman did not run first, he waited for the ball
to be dead. However, now a controversy has started regarding this. Many fans
believe that Masood ran for a run at the end, so the umpire should have given
him out.
Chasing a target of 174 runs, the Lancashire team faced two setbacks early on.
After this, Keaton Jennings played a brilliant innings of 46 off 24 balls,
while wickets kept falling at the other end. In the end the match turned out
to be exciting but Lancashire lost by 6 runs.
