The world's largest cruise embarked on its maiden voyage from the Port of
Miami on Saturday. Royal Caribbean Group's cruise ship 'Icon of the Seas' has
set sail from South Florida on its maiden seven-day island hopping trip to the
tropics. Let us show you the amazing pictures of this cruise.
The ship is 1200 feet (365 m) long from one end to the other. The ship was
formally christened on Tuesday in the presence of legendary football player
Lionel Messi.
"Icon of the Seas is the culmination of more than 50 years of vision to
responsibly deliver the world's best vacation experiences," Royal Caribbean
Group Chairman and CEO Jason Liberty said recently.
He said that people of all age groups will be able to enjoy traveling on this
cruise ship. According to the company, when Icon of the Seas was first
unveiled in October 2022, the ship recorded the most bookings for a single-day
voyage in Royal Caribbean's 53-year history.
'Icon of the Seas' is divided into eight sections over 20 decks. The ship
includes six 'waterslides', seven swimming pools, an ice-skating rink, a
theater and more than 40 restaurants and bars. The ship can carry a maximum of
7,600 passengers with 2,350 crew members.
The ship will run on Liquid Natural Gas (LNG). Environmentalists are opposing
this ship. He has expressed apprehensions that LNG will release huge amounts
of methane gas into the ocean. However, a spokesperson for the Royal Caribbean
Group dismissed these concerns, saying that it emits 24 percent less gas than
the International Maritime Standard.
There are over 40 restaurants for food on Icon of the Sea cruises. On the Icon
of the Sea cruise there are also 6 waterslides, 7 swimming pools, an
ice-skating ring, a theater. Along with this, there is also an aquapark for
