The Ram Janmabhoomi Temple is a Hindu temple being rebuilt at the holy pilgrimage site of Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India. Ram Janmabhoomi is the birthplace of King Rama, who is worshiped as the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple will be constructed by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra. The temple has been designed by the Sompura family of Gujarat.
Rama, believed to be an incarnation of the god Vishnu, is a widely worshiped Hindu deity. According to the ancient Indian epic, Ramayana, Rama was born in Ayodhya. It is known as Ram Janmabhoomi or the birthplace of Rama. In the 15th century, the Mughals built a mosque, the Babri Masjid, on the Ram Janmabhoomi. Hindus believe that the mosque was built after demolishing a Hindu temple. It was only in the 1850s that the dispute took a violent turn.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad had announced that it would lay the foundation stone of the temple on the disputed area before the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court ordered a stay. The VHP then collected the money and bricks with "Shri Ram" written on them. Later, the Rajiv Gandhi ministry gave permission to the VHP to lay the foundation stone, with the then Home Minister Buta Singh giving permission to the then VHP leader Ashok Singhal. Initially, the central and state governments had agreed to hold the foundation stone outside the disputed site. However, on 9 November 1989, a group of VHP leaders and sadhus laid the foundation stone by digging a 7 cubic foot pit on the disputed land. The Singhadwar was established here. Kameshwar Chaupal (a Dalit leader from Bihar) became one of the first to lay the stone.
The conflict took a violent turn in December 1992 when the Babri Masjid was demolished. There have also been various title and legal disputes, such as the passage of the Ayodhya Ordinance, 1993 for the acquisition of certain area. It was only after the Supreme Court's 2019 verdict on the Ayodhya dispute that it was decided to hand over the disputed land to a trust set up by the government. The trust constituted was Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra. On 5 February 2020, it was announced in Parliament that the second Modi ministry had accepted a plan for the construction of the temple.
Ram Lalla, the deity of the temple, was the litigant in the court case of the dispute since 1989. He was represented by senior VHP leader Triloki Nath Pandey, who was considered to be the next 'human' friend of Ram Lalla.

The original design for the Ram temple was prepared in 1988 by the Sompura family of Ahmedabad. Sompur has been a part of the temple design of more than 100 temples around the world for at least 15 generations. A new design for the Ram temple, with some changes from the original design, was prepared by the Sompur residents in 2020. The temple will be 235 feet wide, 360 feet long and 161 feet high. Chandrakant Sompura, the chief architect of the temple, is accompanied by his two sons Nikhil Sompura and Ashish Sompura, who are also architects. The Sompura family built the Ram temple following the 'Nagra' style of architecture, one of the types of Indian temple architecture.

The temple complex will have a prayer hall, "a Ramkatha Kunj (lecture hall), a Vedic Pathshala (educational facility), a Sant Niwas (saint residence) and a Yeti Niwas (hostel for visitors)" and museums and other facilities such as a Cafeteria. Once completed the temple complex will be the third largest Hindu temple in the world. A model of the proposed temple was displayed during the Prayag Kumbh Mela in 2019.
